Concern on the Temple Mount By Nadav Shragai (Ha'aretz July 2) Ha'aretz correspondent Nadav Shragai reported today in the Hebrew edition of Ha'aretz that in the course of the meeting last week at the Prime Minister's Office to discuss the situation on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem (during which Prime Minister Barak decided to allow the Wakf to continue paving part of the Temple Mount area) it was revealed that in recent weeks large diameter sewer pipes have been brought into the Temple Mount. The Antiquities Authority expressed concern that the installation of these pipes without any supervision could cause additional severe damage. The director of the Antiquities Authority, Amir Drori, said in the meeting that no construction activity should take place on the Temple Mount because it damages antiquities. Drori said that if the Wakf is permitted, despite this, to carry out work, that efforts should be made that it be the "minimum necessary".
