Mariana Madbaneko
June 1, 2001 - Mariana Madbaneko, 16, of Tel-Aviv, was one of 19 people killed in a suicide bombing at a Tel-Aviv discotheque shortly before midnight on Friday night. Madbaneko immigrated to Israel with her family two and a half years ago from northern Russia. She was studying drafting at Shelah High School in Tel-Aviv, where she was to have taken her matriculation examinations during the week following the attack. Her cousin Marik Mazganov said Mariana she loved to laugh, and was very fond of her youngest brother Sasha. Mariana wanted to take her younger sister Sofa, 14, with her to the discotheque on Friday night, but her parents said she was too young. Mariana is survived by her parents, a brother who remained in Russia, her sister Sofa, twin brothers, and Sasha. Mariana Madbaneko was buried in Kibbutz Givat Brenner.
