Dr. Mario Goldin

April 22, 2001 - Dr. Mario Goldin, 53, of Kfar Sava, was killed when a terrorist detonated a powerful bomb he was carrying near a group of people waiting at a bus stop on the corner of Weizman and Tchernichovsky streets.

Goldin, 53, married with three children, was in charge of the pain clinic at the Beit Levinstein rehabilitation center. He also worked in the orthopedic ward at Meir Hospital and had treated and helped many victims of terror attacks.

He was on his way to Meir Hospital on Tuesday morning, and decided to take the bus. He was killed immediately.

Mario Goldin immigrated from Argentina 24 years ago. Colleagues and friends said he was a "genuinely good man" and an outstanding doctor who had pioneered the establishment of the pain clinic in the early 1980s. His main aim in life was to ease the suffering of others.

He is survived by his wife, a physiotherapist at Meir Hospital, two sons, and a daughter. He was buried in Kfar Sava.
