Lt. Dotan Nahtomi
Apr 12, 2002 - Lt. Dotan Nahtomi, 22, of Kibbutz Tzuba, died of wounds sustained three days earlier during IDF operations in Dura (Operation Defensive Shield). Lt. Dotan Nahtomi was born in Be'er Sheva. Shortly after his birth, his family moved to Kibbutz Tzuba. After completing his studies, he spent a year in voluntary service working with a youth group (Mahanot Olim) and at a community center in Ashdod. He was a deputy commander in the Nahal Brigade. Dotan loved paragliding. "He was the only soldier who would arrange his vacations from the army according to the weather and wind speeds, and not according to Sabbaths and holidays," said his commanding officer. He also loved basketball. Dotan was the sixth kibbutz member to be killed during the week. "We are proud of our boys but we want them alive," said the secretary of the Kibbutz Movement who spoke at Dotan's funeral. Lt. Dotan Nahtomi was buried in Kibbutz Tzuba. Heis survived by his parents Moti and Hannah and sister Moran.
