Sgt.-Maj. (res.) Einan Sharabi

Apr 4, 2002 - Sgt.-Maj. (res.) Einan Sharabi, 32, of Rehovot; was killed during an exchange of fire at the Jenin refugee camp (Operation Defensive Shield).

"Einan was the oldest child and the light of our parents," said his sister. He was a medic in the Givati Brigade. He completed studies in civil engineering at the Technion Insitute of Technology and, after a short journey abroad, continued studying software engineering.

Einan had recently completed a 21-day reserve duty when he was called back to his unit on the Saturday before he was killed. When recalled for duty, his father suggested he stay home, since all four of his siblings were also serving in the army at that time. However, Einan "put on his uniform and fulfilled his duty."

Einan is survived by his parents Zion and Mazal, who retired from the police force after 32 years of service, sisters Yafit 29 and Tza'ala 27, both officers in the regular army, brother Bezalel 24, a Golani Brigade commander in the regular army and twin brother Reuben, who was on reserve duty when Einan was killed.

Sgt.-Maj. (res.) Einan Sharabi is buried at the cemetery in Rehovot.
