Lt. Nissim Ben-David

Apr 4, 2002 - Lt. Nissim Ben-David, 22, of Ashdod was killed during an exchange of fire in the Jenin refugee camp (Operation Defensive Shield).

Nissim studied at the yeshiva high school Neve Herzog and at the pre-military training academy in the Gush Katif settlement of Atzmona where four students were killed on March 7, 2002.

Nissim completed his compulsory army service a month ago and enlisted in the regular army. He served in the Golani Brigade. Nissim celebrated the Passover seder at home and returned to duty the following day. "He loved to tour the country. Now he has fallen in its defense," said his father.

Lt. Nissim Ben-David was buried in Ashdod. He leaves behind his mother Juliet, father Avinoam, three brothers and two sisters.
