Chanah Rogan

Apr 2, 2002 - Chanah Rogan, 90, of Netanya was one of 28 people killed in a suicide bombing in the Park Hotel in the coastal city of Netanya, in the midst of the Passover holiday seder.

On the eve of Passover, the terrorist walked into the dining room of the hotel, located in the center of Netanya, where 250 guests had just sat down to begin the seder. He detonated an explosive device, killing 22 immediately and injuring 140, six of whom died later. The bomber was identified as a member of the Hamas Iz a Din al-Kassam Brigades, from the West Bank city of Tulkarem, which is just 10 kilometers (six miles) east of Netanya. Chanah Rogan was injured in the suicide bombing and died six days later.

Chanah was born in Kishinev and emigrated to the USA after World War II. In 1972, she immigrated to Israel with her Israeli husband Pinhas, who died several years ago. Chanah usually celebrated the seder at the guesthouse of Shefayim. This year, she attended the seder at the Park Hotel with her childhood friend, Yulia Talmi, who was also killed in the attack.

"Chanah used to warmly hug everyone and she contributed generously." She donated a recovery room and a room in the surgery department to the Laniado Hospital in Netanya.

Chanah Rogan was buried in Holon.
