Mar 31, 2002 - Moshe Levin, 52, of Haifa was one of 15 people killed in a suicide bombing in Haifa, in the Matza restaurant of the gas station near the Grand Canyon shopping mall. Just after 2:30 PM on Sunday afternoon, during the Passover holiday, the terrorist entered the popular Matza restaurant in the Neve Sha'anan district near the Grand Canyon mall. The explosion tore the roof off the one-story building, and blew out the windows, instantly killing 14 people, and leaving horrific scenes of people on fire, and people with lost limbs. Over 40 people were injured. Moshe Levin had stopped in the restaurant briefly to buy humous to take home. His daughter Anat was spared because she opted to wait for her father in the car. Moshe was killed in the explosion. Moshe, an attorney, was assistant legal adviser for the Haifa district of the Israel Lands Administration, where he had worked since 1994. He was professional and well-like by his co-workers. "As a person, he was tolerant and friendly; as a professional, he was demanding," one said. He loved the land of Israel and its landscapes. Moshe Levin was buried in Haifa. He is survived by his wife Efrat, his son Eyal (19), in the navy, and his daughter Anat (15). |
