Avraham Fish

Feb 25, 2002 - Avraham Fish, 65, of Nokdim, was one of two people killed in a terrorist shooting attack between Tekoa and Nokdim, south of Bethlehem.

Avraham Fish and Aharon Gorov Nokdim were killed while driving home to participate in a Purim holiday celebration shortly after 4 PM. Fish's daughter, Tamar Lipschitz, in her ninth month of pregnancy, was shot in the lower abdomen, and her daughter Karine, 4, suffered from shock. Tamar was rushed to the hospital and successfully delivered a baby girl by Caesarean section.

Avraham Fish, a retired electrical engineer, immigrated to Israel with his wife and two daughters from the former Soviet Union nine years ago and settled in Nokdim. Fish was considered of the most idealistic people in the community. "He was always willing to assist and volunteer for guard duty, a dedicated family man who was always ready to help his daughters and grandchildren," a neighbor said.

Avraham Fish was buried at the cemetery in Kibbutz Kfar Etzion. He is survived by his wife Galina, his daughters and grandchildren - the youngest of which he did not live to see.
