Israel Sternberg
Dec 12, 2001 - Israel Sternberg, 46, of Emmanuel, was one of 10 people killed in a terrorist attack on an Israel and several passenger cars near the entrance to Emmanuel in Samaria. At 18:00 PM, on the fourth night of Hanukkah, three terrorists attacked a No. 189 Dan bus traveling to the ultra-Orthodox settlement of Emmanuel from Bnei Brak, as well as several passenger cars, with a roadside bomb, anti-tank grenades, and light arms fire at 18:00 P.M. Ten people were killed and about 30 were injured. Israel Sternberg returning home from visiting his 70 year old father in Ichilov Hospital in Tel-Aviv. He was killed by gunfire while fleeing the bus. Israel, who had been injured during his army service, later became religiously observant and moved with his wife Yaffa from Tel-Aviv to Emmanuel 15 years ago, where he attended classes at the local yeshiva. Israel Sternberg was buried in the Yarkon cemetery. He is survived by his father, his wife, and two sisters.
