Tatiana Borovik

Dec 2, 2001 - Tatiana Borovik, 23, of Haifa, was one of 15 people killed in a suicide bombing on an Egged bus No. 16 in Haifa.

The bombing occurred shortly after noon, when a Hamas suicide bomber boarded an Egged No. 16 bus traveling from the Neveh Sha'anan district, paid the driver with a large bill, then blew himself up as the driver asked him to collect his change.

Tatiana came to Israel in 1995 from the Ukraine as part of a program for high school students. She wrote home how wonderful life in Israel was, and her parents, brother and grandmother arrived a year later and settled in Netanya.

A student at the Camera Obscura school in Haifa, Tatiana Borovik dreamed of being an artist. She was on her way to her studies, together with a friend, when the suicide bomber cut her plans short. "She was a gifted artist," her father said.

Tatiana Borovik was laid to rest in Netanya. She leaves behind her parents, Boris and Ela, her younger brother Sergei (16), and her grandmother Esther.
