Aharon Ussishkin
Nov 11, 2001 - Aharon Ussishkin, 50, of Moshav Kfar Hess, was shot and killed at the entrance to the moshav, after being summoned to investigate a suspicious person. On Sunday evening, suspicions of residents of Moshav Kfar Hess were aroused by a man seen near the entrance to the moshav, carrying a gun. Aharon Ussishkin, the head of security at Kfar Hess, located east of Netanya, was summoned to investigate. Ussishkin asked the gunman to identify himself, and was killed instantly when he opened fire. Another man was wounded in the shooting. Police believe that the gunman probably fired at Ussishkin when he saw the flashing blue light on the security officer's pick-up truck because he thought he had been detected. Aharon (Arele) Ussishkin was born in Moshav Kfar Hess, of which his parents were among the founders. He built his home on his parents' property and followed in their footsteps, breeding poultry and growing flowers for export. An IDF reserve officer, he served as the head of security in the moshav for the last ten months. Friends said he was very well liked, took his part-time job as security officer very seriously, and was always ready to lend a hand. Aharon Ussishkin was laid to rest in the Tel Mond cemetery. He is survived by his wife Pnina, two sons and a daughter, his parents, brother and sister.
