At around 22:00, a blast ripped through the Hilton Hotel in the resort town of Taba, near the border with Israel. The powerful blast was caused by car bomb which exploded at the entrance to the hotel, containing an estimated 250-300 kg of explosives, causing the collapse of part of the hotel. Roy Avisaf grew up in Kfar Sava where he completed his education at the Katznelson High School. Three years ago, he was sent to work in a Jewish youth camp in Hungary, where he met his girlfriend Malvina, who followed him to Israel where she converted to Judaism.

Just before beginning his fourth year at law school, Roy and Malvina went to Sinai last Tuesday to their favorite getaway at Ras a-Satan. Roy was killed leaving his bungalow on his way to the cafe.

Roy volunteered in his spare time and would help deprived children in Yehud with their school work. He had not only been his son, said his father, but "his best friend."

Roy Avisaf was buried in the Kfar Sava cemetery. He is survived by his parents, Reuven and Rahel; an older sister, Bosmat, 29; and a brother, Omri, 21.
