Cpl. Angelina Shcherov
Dec 25, 2003 - Cpl. Angelina Shcherov, 19, of Kfar Sava was one of four people killed in a suicide bombing at a bus stop at the Geha Junction, east of Tel Aviv, near Petah Tikva. The suicide bombing took place during the busy evening rush hour. The bomber, carrying a medium-sized bomb, approached the bus stop at the Geha Junction at about 6:30 P.M. and blew himself up, killing two people immediately and mortally wounding a third, who died en route to the hospital. A fourth person, who was seriously injured, died in the hospital a few hours later. The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine claimed responsibility for the attack. Angelina Shcherov immigrated to Israel from Siberia with her parents in 1992. After completing her studies at the Rabin High School in Kfar Sava, she began her army service four months ago at the technological and logistical unit at the Tel Hashomer base. Angelina went home every day by bus. Her mother, Anya, said she was waiting for her to arrive when the attack occurred. "When I heard about the attack, I immediately called her. The phone rang, but no one answered. I still can't believe what happened to my sweet daughter." Cpl. Angelina Shcherov was buried at the Kfar Sava military cemetery. She is survived by her parents, Sergei and Anya, and her brother Tom, 4.
