Zion Boshirian

Mar 19, 2003 - Zion Boshirian, 51, of Mevo Dotan was shot and killed while driving in his car between Mevo Dotan and Shaked in northern Samaria.

Shortly before 17:00, Zion Boshirian was driving home to Mevo Dotan from work when his car was ambushed by terrorists. Some ten rifle shots hit the car in which he was driving alone. Although shot in head, he managed to return fire before the attackers fled the scene. He died shortly afterwards of his wounds.

Zion and his wife had moved to Mevo Dotan from Beersheba in 1981, where they raised three children. A tax adviser, he had opened his office in Hadera just a year ago. His wife, Bilha, an accountant, worked with him.

Yael Ben-Yaacov, a neighbor, described him as a special person, whom everyone loved. He was a giving person, whether family or strangers. He would often go down to the IDF outpost near Mevo Dotan and distribute food and drinks to the soldiers. His two oldest sons were serving in the army.

The third terror victim of the small community, Zion always said that they shouldn't be afraid.

Zion Boshirian was buried in Zichron Yaakov. He is survived by his wife and their three sons: Oded, 21, Uri, 19, and Udi, 12.
