Anat Shimshon

October 21, 2002 - Anat Shimshon, 33, of Ra'anana, was one of 14 persons killed when a bus was blown up in a suicide attack by a terrorist driving an explosives-laden jeep near the Karkur junction.

Anat Shimshon was on her way home from visiting her father in Kiryat Shmona when she was killed. Anat was born in Haifa, but raised in Kibbutz Tel Yosef. The family moved to Ra'anana when she was 10. After her army service in the Paratroop Corps where she folded parachutes, she studied management at Tel Hai College. For the last five years she was personnel manager for a furniture company, which closed only a few days ago. "She was a warm and loving person," her family said yesterday.

Ironically, Anat's younger sister Tal just returned from the United States, where she was sent by the Defense Ministry to learn to work with dogs specially trained to locate explosives, in a program called "Dogs for Peace."

Anat Shimshon will be buried in the Ra'anana cemetery. She is survived by her parents, Naomi and Amos, brothers and sisters.
