Sgt.-Maj. (res.) Eliezer Moskovitch

October 21, 2002 - Sgt.-Maj. (res.) Eliezer Moskovitch, 40, of Petah Tikva, was one of 14 persons killed when a bus was blown up in a suicide attack by a terrorist driving an explosives-laden jeep near the Karkur junction.

Moskovitch was serving in the reserves and was on his way from his base in the North to his parents' home when he was killed. He worked as a security officer at a religious high school in Bnei Brak and was called up for reserve duty on October 15.

Eliezer was the only child of Bela and Liga Moskovitch, both Holocaust survivors. He was named after a grandfather who was murdered in the Holocaust. At the age of eight, he immigrated with his parents to Israel from Romania. A relative, Miriam Mosensohn, described him yesterday as a "religious, kind-hearted believer who respected others."

Sgt.-Maj. (res.) Eliezer Moskovitch will be buried in the military section of the Segula Cemetery in Petah Tikva. He is survived by his parents.
