Ofer Zinger
Sept 19, 2002 - Ofer Zinger, 29, of Moshav Pazael was one of six people killed when a suicide terrorist detonated a bomb in Dan bus No. 4 on Allenby Street, opposite the Great Synagogue in Tel-Aviv. Hamas claimed responsbility for the attack. The explosion was set off by the suicide bomber shortly before 13:00 PM in the front section of the bus. The bus had been en route from the central bus station to northern Tel Aviv. The bomber apparently boarded the bus at a stop opposite the synagogue and then detonated the device, killing six and wounding about 70. The blast scorched the bus and blew out its windows. Ofer Zinger, who was studying electronic engineering at Tel-Aviv College, had been living with his grandfather in Tel-Aviv. He was on his way to the post office when he was killed. He had worked in the past as a security guard at the home of Foreign Minister Shimon Peres, who sent his condolences. Ofer lived with his parents, Zvia and Zvika Zinger, on Kibbutz Ein Gev, on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, until the age of nine, when they moved to Moshav Patzael in the Jordan Valley, where he completed high school. He served in the army in the Golani Brigade. Ofer Zinger was buried at Kibbutz Ein Gev, close to his uncle Aryeh Zinger, who was killed at the age of 27 in the War of Attrition at the Suez Canal. He is survived by his parents and two younger brothers - Arik (27) and Nir (21).
