Yevgeny Reider

June 20, 2005 - Yevgeny Reider, 27 of Hermesh was killed and a 16-year old teenager was wounded in a terrorist shooting attack in the village of Baka A-Sharkiya in the northern West Bank.

Yevgeny Reider was driving from his home in Hermesh with Andy Zeidan, his girlfriend's 16-year-old son, when gunmen opened fire, hitting Yevgeny in the forehead. The shots were fired from the roadside near homes in the village of Baka al-Sharkiyeh, a few hundred meters from the Green Line. Andy succeeded in taking control of the car and reached within 100 meters of the checkpoint when the car caught fire, apparently due to a bullet that hit the gas tank. An IDF doctor pronounced the driver dead on the scene; Andy was lightly wounded. The Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the attack.

Reider was a temporary resident in Hermesh and had lived with his girlfriend, a resident of the settlement, for five years. The couple has an 18-month-old daughter.

Yevgeny Reider will be buried in Bat Hefer.
