Why Are They in Love with Arafat?
Moshe Feiglin
July 25, 2001
Two weeks ago, Prof. Ze'ev Sternhal published an article in Israel's
Ha'aretz, calling on the Palestinians to direct their 'operations'
-'i.e.: acts of murder, against the settlers. The article being a clear
case of incitement to murder against an entire population, a few na¸ve
settlers filed a complaint with the police against the writer, expecting
that Prof. Sternhal would be brought to trial and charged with
incitement to murder. The State Attorney's office naturally rejected the
complaint out of hand, and the learned professor continues to propagate
his teachings undisturbed.
Last Friday, Zo Artzeinu ran an ad in the Hebrew weekly Makor Rishon.
The ad called on every responsible person, who has the opportunity to do
so, to kill Arafat. The text of the advertisement read:
Tamuz 5761
"Woe unto those who call evil, good and good, evil; darkness, light and
light, darkness; bitter, sweet and sweet, bitter". (Isaiah, 5, 20)
YOU KILL A SNAKE BY SMASHING ITS HEAD
In these times of violence and bloodshed, when under direct orders of
the arch-murderer Arafat, Jewish lives are sacrificed every single day
as an offering to the false god of "peace" and "restraint", instead of
smashing the snake on its head, and preventing the supply of essential
supplies to his terrorists, the Israeli government is allowing Arafat to
continue to slaughter Jews to his heart's content.
We call upon every man of justice and integrity, if presented with the
opportunity,
TO KILL ARAFAT.
You, the IDF soldier who sees Arafat or his helicopter through the
sights of your rifle or of your tank; you, the Shin Bet agent or
ordinary citizen, who sees Arafat's motorcade, if you can attack him
'don't hesitate to do so. Kill Arafat!
In these times, when every day the arch-murderer takes the life of
another one of our people, eliminating Arafat is the most moral, just,
and effective act you can do to protect your people.
There is no doubt that the hero who will smash the snake's head will
save the lives of many Jews.
As expected, the corrupt Israeli judicial establishment, which allowed
weapons to be given to the assassins, and allowed the release from jail
of those who are now murdering us, will bring you to trial. And first,
they will charge us for the very publication of this call.
But our call is directed to the heroes amongst us. We hereby declare to
those who have the opportunity to do so, that justice and morality are
on your side. We will stand by you and provide you with all the
assistance we can.
We call upon you, the hero of the people, who like the Biblical figures
of Nachshon and Pinchas is standing at the crossroads of the historical
decision, and has the opportunity to do the deed:
Don't hesitate. Do the just and moral deed. Kill Arafat!

The Zo Artzeinu Movement
The daily murders of Jews and the calls of incitement to murder settlers
hardly receive any significant coverage in the Israeli media. However,
the call to kill Arafat became the top news item of the day. The radio
and television networks competed with each other on who would condemn us
in the staunchest terms. They interviewed every possible Leftist. Yossi
Sarid and Uri Avneri filed complaints with the police and called for
immediate charges to be brought against us. Israel was in an uproar, far
greater than any turmoil caused by the daily murder of Jews.
Why did our logical call for the elimination of the person responsible
for the sending of the assassins who commit daily acts of murder, arouse
the wrath of the Israeli Left?
The answer is that Arafat is the elixir of life of the Israeli Left.
They need him to help them erase the Jewish identity of the State of
Israel. They need him to help them give up the Temple Mount, Rachel's
Tomb, Hebron, and Beit El. They need him because they hate themselves.
They need him because they need an enemy of the Jewish people who can be
used to justify their self hate.
They need him because they hate Jews.
When Ehud Barak was about to give up the Temple Mount, I was invited to
participate in a live television debate with Gush Shalom head, Uri
Avneri.
"But the Temple Mount is important to the Jews", the interviewer said to
Avneri, "The Jews have a two-thousand year link to the Temple Mount. How
can you expect them to give it up?"
"Nonsense", replied Avneri, condescendingly; "They will forget about it
half an hour."
The interviewer then turned to me. "What do you think? Perhaps, there
is no alternative? After all, you also want peace, don't you?".
"You're right", I replied, "I also want peace, but Uri Avneri doesn't!"
"Uri Avneri doesn't want peace?" the interviewer retorted, in
astonishment.
"Precisely!", I answered, "He doesn't want peace and he doesn't like
Arabs. He simply hates Jews" I added, as a silence of bewilderment
descended on the studio.
One who hates Jews needs Arafat like oxygen. It was therefore not in the
least surprising that Avneri was the first to file a complaint against
me with the police for our call to eliminate Arafat.
Happy is the one against whom a complaint has been filed for calling to
kill Arafat.
Moshe Feiglin, founder of Manhigut Yehudit, The Jewish Leadership
Movement, led the campaign of mass civil disobedience against the Oslo
accords. Feiglin is championing the registration of thousands of new
members to the Manhigut Yehudit bloc in Likud to create a Judaism-based
leadership for the State of Israel.
